Seasons Greetings!

I wanted to take a photo of my quilled 3D angel by candlelight to use as a Christmas card this year..

My husband helped me work out the camera settings  and how we could place the candle to get the reflected light onto the angel.
All in all I'm pleased with the way it turned out

The Magi

Part of the story of Christmas, this is my simple design of the Magi using quilling and stickers.
We do not really know if there were 3 or 4 or more.  Maybe there was a whole caravan of camels and people.  I like to think the 3 represent all the others on the journey including us.
Maybe I  should have kept this to post on Twelfth Night

Baubles and Buttons

My button tree card - recycled paper and buttons.
Christmas bauble with quilled fringed flowers and matching red bling to hang on a tree.
Good news for me is I have finished my present shopping for the family and once presents are wrapped and put away I can concentrate on organising a baby shower for my daughter.

Sweet Leaves Blog Hop

Thank you for blog hopping around the world and stopping by in Australia.  Hope you enjoy your travels.

The leaf I choose to feature is the variegated holly.
And as I love wreaths and it is close to Christmas, I decided to make the wreath below.

I have a lovely old book published in 1950 called "A Wreath of Flower Legends" by Rose Sydenham Dugdale  for inspiration and it has a Norse legend  about the holly.
There are many  legends surrounding the holly and its red berries.  Quite often in various stories, the vivid berry is depicting blood.
Thanks to the

 for organising the blog hop.
If you would like to be part of my give-away( it will be a surprise quilled Christmas ornament)
please leave a comment.
Now continue on your merry way and view all the blogs you have yet to visit.

My Mum is turning 80 this week.  She is a 'young' 80 year old and has many activities she is involved in.
I think I will add some lettering to this card I have made for her.

This time I have made a quilled pendant.
Anyone for matching earrings?

Rainbow Quilling Challenge

A small floral wreath with a rainbow effect for the September challenge on
http://creativequilling.forumotion.com/
The flowers and leaves are glued to florist wire. It was hard to pick a project and I had written down a few things to try such as a hot air balloon or some jewellery.
But in the end I decided on a wreath.

Elephant cards

I have an order for an elephant card and this is the first time I have quilled one. I did 2 for the customer to choose from.
The quilled one is grey paper on black, with silver ribbon and rhinestones.
It reminds me of the baby elephant that had a birthday recently at the Melbourne Zoo
http://www.zoo.org.au/MelbourneZoo

Then I did a card with a sticker, that I found quite by chance in exploring a new paper shop. I chose black rhinestones and ribbon to dress the card up.
Which would you choose?

I have an order for some butterfly cards. I am going to make a few different cards and let the customer pick the ones they would like.
I will never forget when we visited a butterfly sanctuary in Cairns

Love Raspberry Red paper

I have made various cards this afternoon and this is my favourite.
The flower on this card is done in raspberry red and I have included a small amount of "bling"
The side border on this card is a Kaiser paper border over washi tape.
My next card will include a butterfly as I have an order for some cards specifically with butterflies

Quilled embellishments for Flower Fairy

The timeless quality of Flower fairies and quilling come together in my latest card.
I am enjoying using these fairy pictures which came free with a UK papercraft magazine.
Since taking this photo I added some extra bling in a spiral connecting the butterfly and the fairy. These extra touches quite often come to mind after viewing the photo of my work.
By the way, hello to all my 70 followers!

I Love Pink and .....quilling

This card has a pretty "Kaiser" paper as a background. I have placed spiral roses on a heart cut from a lace doily.
The paper is inspiring and so are the others in the Kaiser pad. There are so many lovely papers to choose from these days.

ELEGANT LADY

In years gone by a lady never went out of the house without her hat. Such formality these days has been swept into the pages of history and it is only on very formal occasions one would even consider wearing a hat like the one above.
I do have a hat case in my possession that belonged to my great aunt. What tales it could tell of days gone by.
The lady with the hat is another image from http://digitaltuesday.blogspot.com/

To celebrate I would like to offer this gift to crafty friends and bloggers who post a comment between now and 14th June. It is an altered notebook using washi tape and quilling and bling.
Should be fun to see who wins when I pull the names out of a hat!

Pearly essence

I have recycled some pearly buttons, made metallic quilled flowers and some rhinestones to create this card.
Something quick to do if you need a card in a hurry.

I Can Never Get Enough Hats

In this card I have used a delightful free digital stamp from
http://digitaltuesday.blogspot.com/
It was published earlier in May and I knew I wanted to do some quilling with it.
I seem to have a fixation with spiral roses at the moment but they add just the right touch of elegance.
I have added a sparkly necklace as well.

Cross for Easter

Quilled cross with punched butterfly in centre.

In the last few days I have been tidying my craft magazines and books. On glancing through some of them, I can see quilling projects I have wanted to try but had forgotten about.
Some magazines will be going to the op shop where I hope someone else will find them useful.

Easter Egg Treasure Trove Part 1

Recently my Dad died, so I have just got back to some quilling. It was a sad time for the family but as we cricket supporters say "He had a good innings"
My Easter card has an egg decoration, trimmed with washi tape and lace sticker. Then I have placed a gold metallic flower on top.

"Thinking of You" card

I had a request for a card with "Thinking of You" on it.
I have experimented for the first time with some washi tape across the top bordered by quilling strips.
I will see what other things I can do with the tape.

"Life is Sweet" Quilling Blog Hop

Hello to everyone who drops in,
Such an enjoyable blog hop. Sorry to mess things up with my timing.
I have posted a card, with a quilled strawberry cupcake in a paper lace wrapper, pictured on it. I made the cake with a strawberry on top as currently we are picking strawberries from our garden.
With little or no effort the plants have produced quite a good crop. Having a wet summer has helped.
If you would like to win this card please leave a comment. I will draw a winner on Friday Australian time.
Make sure you visit all the other participants in the blog hop
Have fun!

Summer break

For those of us in Australia, January is a long holiday time especially for school children.

Having not done any quilling since my Christmas cards, I am going to participate in a blog hop.
This has inspired me to get my quilling underway for the New Year.
Come and see what sweet minded quillers are up to.
Come and do a blog hop on Saturday 29th January New York time which will be Sunday 30th here in Australia
